My trade magazine career began in 1982 when I joined Impressions, a monthly trade journal for the "imprinted sportswear" (read: T-shirt) industry. Subsequently, I moved on to write for a half-dozen other magazines owned by Impressions' parent company. This was the point at which I fell in love with trade publishing. The variety of publications in the trade and professional arenas is simply...stunning. There are magazines for professional kitchen designers; for builders of apartments, condos and townhouses; for optical retailers; for in-house corporate travel managers; and for every niche of the nursing profession.
